Palm Springs Day Trip | The Perfect Getaway

If you know Jenna & I already, you know we love planning last minute adventures to Palm Springs. It’s something we’ve been doing for a few years now, and we typically stay overnight, but we decided to do a quick day trip on a whim.. because, why not?! Here is a rundown of some of our favorite spots to go in Palm Springs that you can easily squeeze into a fun little day trip.

Something we did for the first time on this day trip was stop at the Palm Springs welcome sign  when you’re driving in. We always say we’ll stop there one day, so on this day, we decided to pull over and get some photos together in front of the sign. It’s actually an awesome spot with some amazing views of the desert.

We are huge fans of the Saguaro Hotel & always stay there on our overnight trips to Palm Springs. But recently we discovered a hidden gem attached to the hotel – El Jefé - with the most delicious dishes that’s solely well-worth the trip to Palm Springs. The fish tacos at El Jefé, which is inside the hotel, has the BEST fish tacos that’ll blow your mind. Don’t forgot to order the guacamole, as well — you’ll thank us later for this tip.

One of the greatest places to walk around while you’re visiting our very favorite desert oasis is downtown Palm Springs. Perfect for window shopping, art galleries, artisan coffee shops, local eateries, & antique shops. We had heard that there was a stellar place to get Dole Whip Floats (yes, the exact same as Disneyland’s famous treat) & vegan Date Shakes at a little shop on the Downtown strip called Lappert’s. We were not lead astray. Everything in Lappert’s is unbelievably delicious and unique! This Hawaiian themed ice cream parlor takes the cake for the best place to satisfy a sweet tooth in Palm Springs.

Palm Springs is definitely a Southern Californian gem with so much history & great locally owned establishments that warrant a proper visit (or in our case, frequent ones), even if it’s just for the day. It has been our staple getaway destination and acted like a kind of sanctuary for Jenna & I. A place that we will continue to visit and consider a kind of paradise – a home away from home.
