Finding Balance in the New Year

It’s 2019 and everyone is setting new goals for themselves!

We’re all working hard on making this our best year yet, which can really put pressure on to “go hard” whether it be at work or even in school.

While it absolutely takes hard work and commitment to chase our own individual goals, I’m also making a point to remember how important it is to allow myself to live a little, take a breather when I need it and reward myself along the way - because hey, I deserve it!

I’ve already set out my master plan for 2019, and that includes long-term goals, and short-term ones too. It can feel really intimidating right off the bat with some of these milestones I’m pushing myself towards reaching. I feel excited about each and every one of the goals I’m looking to reach in 2019, but I know it’s a long, uphill journey when it comes to a few items on the list. This year begun with a major move for Nick and I that’s been such an exciting but challenging few weeks! Though the days have been extraordinarily long and physically demanding - moving boxes and lifting furniture - I’m remembering to do little things to reward myself when I need it (and totally deserve it)!

One way I’m treating the two of us and also making some me-time for myself is by indulging here and there, and spending a few extra minutes in the kitchen. What’s been great for the both of us is Oikos Whole Milk Greek Yogurt. It’s rich and creamy, and comes in such amazing mouth watering flavors. Nick’s favorite being Lemon Meringue and mine being Banana Cream. We also love keeping a few classics on hand, likeIreesistable Raspberry Mousse and Sweet-As-A-Peach-Cobbler.

Lately, our home has been in a state of chaos from our big move and also having just returned from a long trip, plus spending the holidays in another city. We really didn’t have much opportunity to just be alone together, enjoy a date night or night-in at home for almost an entire month! We’ve been totally non-stop since the end of November and now we’re making a point to play some “us-time” catch up!

It’s a simple pleasure that takes time out of your day, but we’ve been making a point and setting aside time to leave the house and go to the movies once or twice a week. It’s such a refreshing break from unboxing and organizing, plus I decided to literally sweeten the deal by making mini Oikos Whole Milk Greek Yogurt No-Bake Cheesecakes with to treat ourselves to before we step out for the evening. They’re quick and easy, and amazing as a dessert-for-1.

Another way I’m patting myself on the back for my hard work so far this year is by allowing myself to enjoy one after I’ve had a great fat or week. I’ve been really open about my personal goals, routines and agenda over the last few years, sharing so much of that journey with my followers and readers - and I really do believe that it’s important to maintain balance so this is my way of being good to myself, working towards my goals and living a happy life!
