As you may or may not know, Jenna & I moved into our new household last month & we’re still in the process of getting our place set up just the way we like. I’m not one to get lavish & start purchasing home decor that will drain the bank account, but that doesn’t mean I don’t like setting up our place with cool items that make it feel like “our home”. So, to add to the “lavish” statement, I wanted to get a few last minute, budget-friendly items to setup in our space before I leave for tour. Specifically, items that Jenna could also enjoy when I’m not around.

Disclaimer: I’m no interior designer, I’m a musician. So, I figured I’d check out home decor & other fun items at 99 Cents Only Store versus shopping at another retailer and going outside of my intended budget. Like I’ve been saying, I’m not going to break the bank on getting a few items for the house that fit “us” & our vibe. You’d be surprised what you can find when you hit the 99. Let me breakdown the shopping trip for you..

What was my budget? $40.

What did I come out with?

  • (1) 4 Tier Bamboo Storage Shelf

  • (1) Mini-Table

  • (1) Rug

  • (2) Candle Sconses

  • (2) Scented Candles

  • (1) Letter board

First off, I saved a few bucks & came out of the 99 under my intended budget. Mission accomplished! But more importantly, I found items on a budget that fit our household & added to our vibe that makes our household ”us”. Being able to cross both of those off my list was the most important thing in my book. It’s one thing to find items for your house just because it’s more affordable, but it’s another to genuinely be stoked & find use for them in positive ways.

My idea going into this shopping venture was to create a little “nook” right by our records & record player. Just something that incorporated Jenna & I and positive vibes. A little rug to chill on while flipping through records, a couple candles to get the vibe just right, a few photos of us, and a letter board to add messages to whenever I wanted to. I like changing up the letter board & leaving messages on it for Jenna to read when I’m on tour. We’re sappy, I’m very well aware. But, it’s those kind of items; that little “nook”, that creates a space in our home that makes it feel like home. The 99 was a great place to put together everything that was needed on my list, while also accomplishing that on a budget. Like I said earlier, you don’t need to break the bank to create something special in your home. All that matters is what it means to YOU & the joy you get out of the space you create. #dothe99, you never know what you might find, and then you can thank me later.

I’m officially a 99'er. Jenna & I have been in the 99 before, but going in & coming out with some awesome items for our new home this time around changed the game for us. On top of being an awesome spot for us to do quick grocery, kitchen, & bathroom supply shopping, we can now add home decor to that list, as well.
