Before & After Glossier
First things first, this is NOT a sponsored post. This is me being open, honest, and real about something that I've been through. This is me, sharing my story.
For a while now, I've been talking quite a lot about my skin, skincare and the cosmetics I use. I've shared my stories about how I struggled with painful acne, skin sensitivity and allergies. (You can read those here, here, and here.) It's been a long road to clear, happy skin but I'm finally within a routine that works best for me.
Quite some time has gone by since I've started using the products that work best for me, and I'm finally here to share my transformation with you all. The "BEFORE" photos were taken in March of 2017, less than a year ago. My "AFTER" photos were taken in September of the same year, 2017 after switching my skincare over to Glossier products, which I'll share more details on below.
First, take a look at my transformation.
A couple things I want to point out...
- Can you see how shiny and glossy my face looks in my "BEFORE" photos? That's how it was all the time. Whether I put makeup on or not, my face was constantly overproducing oils and attempting to soothe itself. It wasn't just uncomfortable, but it was painful.
- The "BEFORE" photos all took place after I had tried seeing multiple doctors and trying out multiple treatments. Nothing worked for me. I always ended up swollen, red and back at square one. I even incurred a few chemical burns from topical treatments recommended to me by physicians.
- My face was SWOLLEN... like puffy and painfully swollen. I couldn't even touch my face without experiencing pain. Putting on makeup was not fun, but I felt it was really necessary to disguise some of the acne sores and burns.
- THESE PHOTOS HAVE NO TOUCH-UPS AND NO FILTERS. I never, ever touch-up my skin in photos. I never, ever have augmented my body, my face or appearance. Not in photos, not in real life. EVER. I choose to do this because exercising unconditional self-love is endlessly valuable to me in my life.
Like I mentioned, these photos were only taken 7 MONTHS APART. I can give credit to my acne clearing and skin irritation soothing to implementing Glossier products into my routine. I learned a lot about their products after first hearing about them in April of 2017. I started using their products in June, and each month after that through September, added more and more Glossier into my routine. I started out with their Balm Dotcom and Priming Moisturizer. After that, I added Mega Greens Galaxy Mask, Moisturizing Moon Mask and Super Pure into the mix, then sprung for my holy grail - the Super Pack of serums. Over the months of trying different combos and simplifying the routine, I can say that the Super Pack (Super Glow, Super Pure. Super Bounce serums) are something I don't think I'll ever go without. If nothing else, now that my skin has cleared, I'll always keep those 3 and my Priming Moisturizing fully stocked.
I'm quickly approaching 30 y/o and am finally embracing how important skincare is. Not only feeling comfortable in your skin, but also taking good care of it. I trust Glossier to not only keep my skin happy, but also youthful, healthy and glowing. In addition, I just want to mention how important SPF is - no one talked to me about this until I was in my mid 20's and OMG I wish I would have taken sun protection seriously much sooner. I do love Glossier's Invisible Shield w/ SPF 35, but the one I use religiously is SuperGoop's CC Cream or Everyday Sunscreen (which I'll link below if you want to know more about them).
Thank you to everyone who has been so supportive and kind in response to me sharing these honest photos of myself. Feeling good makes all the difference when you wake up to face the world each day. I hope you enjoyed reading about my experience and maybe can benefit from it in some way. Love you all. See you next time. :)
